Prior to 1934, it was not possible to fly across the Atlantic. The only way air mail post could travel was by Zeppelin air ship. This envelope has been sent via this route and would have gone to Germany first for transfer to the Graf Zeppelin on the 4th April for the second flight of 1932 to Pernambuco in Brazil. It gathered two nice Zeppelin cachets as it did so. The cost of the service was expensive, much more so than European air mail services.
