These damaged envelopes from India to Bath and Singapore to Bath were recovered from the Imperial Airways Short S23 C-Class seaplane CYGNUS G-ADUZ which crashed on take-off from the sea off Brindisi as described in reference no. 2002-039-064-65.
The upper cover from Kaipur received a fine 4-line boxed cachet in violet frequently found on the English mails. The lower cover received the second boxed cachet in violet used on mail to England. A stamp was washed off each cover. The top cover shows a postage date of 24th November 1937. Both covers have added a manuscript “Ex Cygnus”.
