Two more damaged envelopes recovered from the Imperial Airways Short S23  C-Class seaplane CYGNUS G-ADUZ which crashed on take-off from the sea off Brindisi as described in reference no. 2002-039-064-65.

These damaged envelopes from Singapore to London and Calcutta to London received a two line boxed cachet in black: “DAMAGED BY SEA / WATER”.  Several covers are known with this cachet in black, although it is probably more common in violet.  Both covers have stamps washed off.  Both covers are annotated to suggest the crash took place on 4th December, whereas news reports at the time all put the crash on 5th December.
