Two more damaged envelopes recovered from the Imperial Airways Short S23  C-Class seaplane CYGNUS G-ADUZ which crashed on take-off from the sea off Brindisi as described in reference no. 2002-039-064-65.

The upper cover posted on 29th November from Jerusalem to Paris received a 4-line cachet in violet applied to the French mails:   “SERVICE POSTAL FRANÇAIS / Correspondance retardée / par accident d’Avion / Prière de ne pas taxer.”  A second cachet was applied in France in black: “LETTRE DÉTÉRIORÉE / ACCIDENT AVION”.  The lower cover posted on 22nd November from Nelson Bay, NSW to London received the four-line boxed cachet in violet used on mail to England: “DAMAGED BY / SEA WATER / IN AIRPLANE / ACCIDENT”.  A stamp was washed off this cover and one of the remaining stamps was a Tasmanian fiscal label.  This resulted in the cover being treated as underpaid and having a boxed “T / 240 / CENTIMES” to-pay charge.
