Description

Recovered Air Mail

On a flight from Croydon Airport in London to Paris, France, the Imperial Airways 'Boadicea' disappeared over the English sea on September 25th 1936.

The plane was never found, but the mail bags were recovered at different times. One bag was washed ashore at Cucq in the Pas de Calais one month after the crash. Another was found at Dymschurch on November 10th, while a third was salvaged by a trawler on April 27th 1938.

This example was addressed to Nairobi, Kenya, where it was stamped on arrival on November 9th, probably from the second bag salvaged.
