French Ambulance Envelope, Nr. Villa Grande, 1933

This envelope was used to carry a letter carried on the route from Casablanca across the Mediterranean Sea towards Toulouse on a Cie Aéropostale Latecoere 28 plane, F-AGIT. After leaving Barcelona for Perpignan, radio contact was lost and later it was found that the plane crashed into a house in a village near Villa Grande (Spain) on 9th May 1933. The plane was wrecked and caught fireand the crew and 3 passengers killed. The Cachet was applied in France and reads: CORRESPONDANCE AVION / retardée et détériorée / par suite de l’accident aérien / survenu le………… / - 9 MAI 1933
